About Us

Bennie L. Williams Spiritual Voices (BLWSV) is the brainchild of its founder, Ms. Bennie L. Williams, a renowned and nationally recognized director and teacher of music. BLWSV performs locally and nationally, celebrating the history of the spirituals for audiences young and old and in venues grand and intimate. Founded in 2013, BLWSV is a 501(c)3 charitable, educational, and cultural organization.

The group consists of culturally diverse and multi-talented performers of all ages. Our mission is to preserve and perform African American spirituals and related choral arrangements, and provide supportive educational materials.  The Spiritual Voices is a multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-generational group based in Denver.  By sharing these sacred songs, Spiritual Voices honor the wisdom of the ancestors and create a beloved community whose impact has been felt worldwide.

The choir members named the group, the Bennie L. Williams Spiritual Voices, out of respect and enthusiasm for Ms. Williams' lifelong musical contribution to the preservation and dissemination of the cultural heritage that enslaved Africans contributed with their songs and voices.
